Executive Yuan Secretary-General Kung Ming-hsin is set to lead a Taiwan delegation comprising nearly 100 administrative representatives and business leaders to attend the SelectUSA Investment Summit May 11-14 in Washington D.C., highlighting the government commitment to strengthen industrial and technological cooperation with the U.S.

According to the EY, delegation members come from sectors including aerospace, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, chemical engineering, financial services, information and communications technology, semiconductors and smart manufacturing. They will exchange opinions with U.S. governments at all levels, local economic development agencies and global business leaders during the event to seek reciprocal cooperation and thus strengthen bilateral supply chain partnerships, it said.

In addition, the American Institute in Taiwan will further organize activities relevant to the AI, quantum technology, drone and semiconductor industries to help Taiwan enterprises explore collaborative opportunities with U.S. counterparts and expand U.S. market reach on the sidelines of the summit.

The joint participation of Taiwan’s public and private sectors in the event demonstrates the implementation of the “Taiwan Plus One” policy proposed by President Lai Ching-te, the EY said. This further shows government commitment to deepening ties with the U.S., while promoting economic prosperity and security for the two sides, it added.

Launched in 2013 by the U.S. Department of Commerce, SelectUSA is the most high-profile event for promotion of foreign direct investment in the U.S. (YCH-E)
